Yellow Kitchen knows that the process of ordering a cake can seem a bit overwhelming, and it is important to us to make it as easy and fun as possible for you.  We are devoted to taking the details and vision of your event and working with you to make the perfect cake that you will love. To start, please go to our contact page, and be sure to send in photos of cakes you like; we are happy to send you price quotes.

How far ahead do I need to place my order?
We recommend placing your order as soon as possible. As we are a smaller bakery, and we take great care to make sure each cake is just right, we take a limited number of orders. Wedding cake and large orders can be taken up to 6 months in advance, and we recommend placing your order at least 2 months before the event. We recommend that orders for smaller event cakes be placed at least 3 weeks before your event. Of course, we will do everything possible to accommodate your order, so please call or email with any inquiry.

Can I have more than one flavor in a tiered cake?
Yes! Each tier of your cake can be a different flavor. Costs may vary. 

Do you deliver? 
Yes! Please send us an address, and we will be happy to provide a quote.

Do you have a retail store front where I can come in and purchase a cake?
No. We operate out of a licensed kitchen, where we make everything to order from scratch, and therefore, do not have cakes to purchase on a daily basis. All cakes must be ordered in advance and picked up by appointment only.

Do you offer cupcakes? How about cookies?
At this time, we only offer cupcakes if they go along with a decorated cake. However, we do offer decorated sugar cookies with a minimum order of one dozen. During the Holidays, we start up The Good Cookies, where you can purchase different combinations of holiday cookies. More information on this will be on our Facebook page as the Holidays get closer. Please contact us if you have a specific idea in mind for cupcakes or cookies; we try to be as accommodating to our clients as possible, and it never hurts to ask.

Do you offer cake tastings?
We offer in person cake tastings for custom wedding orders (minimum order $500, not including delivery.) You may choose up to 3 flavors for $40, and the fee is credited toward your down payment when you order your cake with us. If you are ordering a cake for another occasion and would still like to taste your cake before ordering, please email or call, and we will do our best to set up a plate that you can pick up and take with you to taste. The same fees apply for a pick up tasting and will likewise be credited to your down payment when you place your order with us.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
At this time, we do not offer gluten free, dairy free, sugar free or vegan options. Some of our flavors also contain nuts, and we do not operate out of a nut-free or wheat-free kitchen. If you have any food allergies or sensitivities, please let us know and we can help determine if our desserts are right for you.

How is pricing determined?
The prices for our cakes are based on the number of servings they provide and the level of complexity of the decoration. Generally, the more intricate the design, the higher the price.

What size cakes do you offer?
We offer 6”, 8”, 10” and 12” single tier cakes as well as ¼ sheet and ½ sheet cakes. For tiered cakes, we offer 2, 3 and 4 tiered cakes that vary in size. Often, the design you choose determines what size tiered cake would be best for your event.  

How big of a cake do I need to serve my guests?
We look at your serving needs and preferred designs comprehensively in order to be sure you get exactly what you want. Our single tier cakes contain four layers of cake to be about five inches tall. With these measurements, our cakes serve as follows:
6”: 8-12 servings
8”: 15-20 servings
10”: 20-30 servings
12”: 25-40 servings

Sometimes, the design you choose may ask that some tiers in our tiered cakes be shorter or taller than the regular sizes above. In these cases, we will help figure out the best tier sizes for you to be sure you are getting the correct number of servings for your guests.

Our sheet cakes come with 3 layers of cake, to be about four inches tall. They serve as follows:
¼ sheet: 30-40 servings     
½ sheet: 60-80 servings

Do I need to pay everything up front or place a deposit?
For smaller cakes, a 50% deposit reserves your order on a first come first served basis. For larger orders (over $800), a deposit of $300 is required to reserve your order. The remainder of your order must be paid in full at least two weeks before your event.
